Escalante Family

The Escalante 5 is a low-stack, zero drop road running shoe made for runners who want to feel more connected to the ground beneath them. Altra EGO™ midsole foam gives it a responsive, cushioned feel without adding unnecessary bulk, while the streamlined design lets your feet move naturally. Use it for everyday road miles, speedwork or simply getting out for a run your way.

The Escalante 5 has a zero drop platform, meaning your heel and forefoot sit at the same height. Combined with its low stack height, this creates a connected feel underfoot and allows your feet to move naturally. If you’re new to zero drop running shoes, give your body time to adjust rather than changing your usual mileage all at once.

The Escalante 5 features Altra’s signature FootShape™ Fit, giving your toes plenty of room to move more freely while keeping the midfoot secure. That makes it a good option to explore if you prefer running shoes with a roomy toe box rather than a more tapered forefoot. More room where you want it. Secure where you need it.

While the Altra Escalante 5 is not a heavily cushioned shoe, it uses Altra EGO™ midsole foam for a responsive and comfortable underfoot feel. Its low stack height keeps you closer to the road, balancing cushioning with ground connection. If you prefer more foam beneath your feet, compare it with Altra’s cushioned road running shoes to find the ride that works for you

The Escalante 5 is designed to handle speedwork as well as regular road miles. Its low-stack construction keeps the shoe streamlined, while responsive Altra EGO™ foam gives you cushioning without taking away that connected feel. The updated rubber outsole is also designed to improve durability without weighing you down. Fast session planned? Lace up and go.

The Escalante 5 combines a low stack height with zero drop to keep your foot closer to the surface beneath you. Its Altra EGO™ midsole adds responsive cushioning while maintaining that connected feel, and the updated rubber outsole avoids unnecessary bulk. It’s built for runners who want to feel the road rather than sit high above it.

It can be, particularly if you’re looking for a flexible, low-stack shoe with plenty of toe room. The Escalante 5 feels different from higher-stack or higher-drop running shoes because of its zero drop platform and connected ride. If that’s new to you, start gradually and give yourself time to get used to the change. You can also compare Altra’s wider range of men’s road running shoes and women’s road running shoes before choosing your pair.
